Study of Immune Reconstitution Inflammatory Syndrome (IRIS) for International Sites Initiating Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) in Infants and Children < 72 months of Age

Protocol Summary: P1073 is a two-step, prospective observational study examining tuberculosis (TB) or Bacille Calmette Guerin (BCG) vaccine related to IRIS after initiating HAART. The study aims to describe the incidence, severity, clinical features of IRIS events related to BCG (BCG-IRIS) and TB infection (TB-IRIS) or OTHER-IRIS in ARV treatment naïve HIV-infected pediatric patients starting HAART for the first time.
